Hire an attorney and sue the company. This is usually the only recourse, once his company does not comply with the doctors orders. and, most will not. He will win his case, but he will also be terminated after the settlement.

try department of labor 1st then fallow john's advice. however they can't fire him cause of the suit so he may have the job still my hubby did for a long time till he quit.

Yes the employer can do that. It's a pretty common thing actually, in most cases they do this to avoid paying the employee for being off of work by allowing him/her to work a minimal amount of hours. If you don't have an attorney yet, get one. It will probably not change the situation right now but the attorney will file for a continuation of pay and at least when the claim is over you will recover some of the money being lost right now
