Well, there's always de-clawing, but I don't recommend it. It's really quite a cruel procedure. There are what I believe are called SofClaws (something like that). They're basically temporary caps you stick on your cats claws. What I suggest trying first is a scratching post treated with catnip. This is the cheapest method and usually effective. I also suggest looking at a pet store for some pet deterrent spray. Spray a coating of it on the screens every so often and it should keep him away - most of them can't stand the smell. Make sure you get the scent based one, though, and not the taste-based, or it'll be useless. :p

cats HATE citrus scents so spray your screens with lemon juice or lemon scented airfreshner

Cats usually don't like the smell of citrus. You might want to try sraying something on the screens with this scent.
