I really don't know. Particularly since the ones I have seen mentioned by name in the Bible were all male.
-
We do? Didn't know that... I never have. They have names like Michael and Gabriel....
-
I don't - I tend to think of angels as male on the whole. Raphael, Gabriel and so on.
-
I don't, much of the Angelic heirarchy is supposed to be male.. Michael, Gabriel, even Satan was supposedly an Angel once.
-
I agree with what others have said angels in the bibles where mentioned with males names. But I can see why you would think this...most pictures you see portray angels as woman.
-
I don't believe that there are any female angels, but I would think that people like to think of them as gentle, caring beings. It makes sense to think that people might like to portray them as women since men as a whole tend to be more agressive than women. Again, I'm not sure, but I think that's a possibility.
-
I think it's because of the long flowing gowns they're portrayed in.
-
There arent any female angels named in the bible, but the peace that they have come to represent is easier to see in the female form than the form of a man.
-
Because angels are described as 'beautiful' and that's a word we ascribe to female, not male attractiveness.
-
angels sound like they're more feminine.
-
The Angel of Death sounds male. I suppose.

Probably for the same reason that it's common to see Satan portrayed as really ugly, and having red horns, even though he's described as being beautiful. Many people tend to start believing what they want to believe more than how something was actually stated or written.
