I think he is a fool. Here is someone that goes on and on about the wastefulness of us common folk. 300k for a coffee table is retarded. I could think of all the starving people they can feed with that money. That is so shallow. I have plenty of better ideas for that cash. It shows you the empty headed fools we look up to that work in Hollywood. Man that is stupid.

I cant believe that his wife let him do it, where there are so many other worthy causes to which she would have liked to have seen that money go to...

I feel rather indifferent at the moment.
that better be a DAMN good coffee table.

blast you mr. pitt for being able to do that.
funny story of a coffee table though...
my thirteen year old little sister was doing something goon-ish and fell/slammed her bottom into our glass coffee table and SOOO smashed it.

    it was hilarious.
    the parentals did not agree.
    but i chuckled mighty.

    Well it's his money, but...

... do people really need a very expensive coffee table? How many books could that money buy, to raise literacy rates, for example?

Again, it's his money. Who am I to question how he spends his fortune? I'm just thinking out loud :)

I couldn't give less of a crap about multi-millionaires spending a lot on luxury items, especially if the multi-millionaire is a well known philanthropist in the first place.

I would've gladly sold my coffee table to him for half that. lol, i actually think its an excellent example of how wasteful people become when they have excessive money. But its his money so in the end its none of my business what he does with it, he could've just given that money to charity or something.

I am no expert on Brad Pitt, but I know he does give a good portion of his income and time to charity. I think he can make a purchase like this without feeling guilty about it. He is also an avid art collector, and maybe the table has some artistic value to him.

it's his money. He can do whatever he likes with it. It's not up to me to pass judgment on how someone spends his money, you know?

    Description of said coffee table:

"...a hollow marble table built by Jeroen Verhoeven, which cost Pitt $293,000. The four-foot 'Cinderella table' was one of six in the collection, and was hewn from a solid block of Carrara marble."

I feel fine. Money is only relative to how much you actually have. If he was a broke mo-fo and mortgaged his house to do so, yeh, he'd be an idiot. But when you're worth (just by yourself) around $150 million, no, I don't think it's a big deal. Home decor is as important to myself as well...only on a slightly smaller scale. Okay, a lot smaller! :)

This is my frist time hearing baout it. I think its a waste of money. He couldve given to some poor ocmmunity, a college thta doesnt have good finical aid, or to some charity. But he does give, form what I understand, thats all that matters (even if what he chooses to spend money on something thats not that worth it).

    Blah blah charity blah.

When you spend 300k on a coffee table it doesn't mean that money disappears.
It goes into the economy, it creates jobs. It helps remove the need for charity in the first place.

Besides, the way we look at a rich person spending 300k on a coffee table here, is exactly how most people in the world see us spending $700 on a big TV. So unless you never buy something just because you'd like it, then really you have nothing to say, because you could have donated to charity too.
