  • It's dependant on the weight/size of the person. Starvation will take the average person 1-2 weeks with no food. Water provides no substitutes for food, so it doesn't matter if you drink or not...but if you don't drink, you'll die of dehydration in about half that time.
  • Actually ,if you read Paul Bragg's books you will find that you can fast on water for many weeks,for he did.He would fast on water 1 day each week and 3 days in a row each month.I have fasted myself on distilled water for 10 days,and never felt better doing it.It takes energy from the body when we eat and drinking requires very little energy,and gives the body much needed rest from digesting food all the time.It is a fallacy that we need to eat everyday,I can see the benefit of water fasting.
  • I believe our middle school text books told us 30 days. But I think Ghandi fasted for like 42 days, but he drank supplements in his water I was told. And we are only supposed to be able to survive 3 days with no water.

  • an average male adult can easily last 14 - 20 days without food. after the first week the body does not recognize hunger. some people, can last 40 - 80 days as long as they have water. im about 10 to 20 lbs overweight and i would guess that i would last 40 - 80 days fairly easily and still be able to function normally. some prisoners in the world have gone on hunger strikes over 100 days before being forced to take nutrition.
  • At age 19, I was in the Army overseas. At one point, I stopped eating without anyone knowing, and for the next 4 months I was invited to 3 large dinners total (about 5 weeks apart). In the 5th month, I had a complete nervous breakdown with the only known cause being the 'starving'. Of course, I do not advise doing this, and I could not do the same today.

  • Fasting is biblical, and contrary to "medical" opinions, it is very beneficial to your health. Jesus and Moses did it for 40 days. You don't go into starvation mode until all your fat is burned up. Though I suppose I have to say I wouldn't recommend it, I've done a "fast" water only, for 7 and 10 days at a time. I slept alot, relaxed, steamed to detoxify and felt 100% better and more energetic. Read up on it, check out how your body has energy to detoxify you when its not useing the energy on digestion!
