Which would you rather have underneath your plane seat, a parachute or a flotation device?

I'm pretty sure neither would do me any good. I don't know how to use a parachute and the life preserver is equally laughable. I can swim, but I don't think I'm getting out of that tin can in one piece if it's crashing at top speed. I'd probably have a heart attack first.

In the situation that either would be required I think a toilet would be more beneficial.

I'd rather cyanide beneath my seat in such a situation coz if the plane breaks up mid air the air pressure will kill me before I can say the Pa of parachute and in case of landing on water if its in the middle of the ocean I don't want to be alive to be eaten by sharks or slowly die of hypothermia which kills in about 3 hours. I never pay attention to the pantomime about emergency exits.

well...considering we ARE in a plane...i think a parachute would be more useable than a flotation device......
