this is an issue that worries me a lot about this country. i dont think there is any easy option but i think constantly putting it in the papers is glorifying it in a way so maybe a medid blackout on the crime itself and tougher sentences and just publise the outcome ie boy stabs other boy gets 20 years.

some sort of deterrent would be a start.

Guns or baseball bats. Take your pick. The problem isn't with the tool, but the criminal using it. Make violent crime a death penalty offense, STICK TO IT, and people will begin to believe that it's not acceptable.

Ban knives. We've banned drugs and prostitution and that seems to be working.
