I have been claiming incapacity benefit for eight weeks and today I received a letter saying I had to atttend an interview at the job centre for a pathways to work interview and failing to do so could affect my benefit. Is this compulsory.

    Yes because even though you may not be able to find work of your choice, there may be other types of work that you are able to do. If you do not turn up then you might lose money.

    It certainly is if you wish to continue receiving benefits.

    You will lose them if you do not appear.
