  • I don't think it counts if you "forgive" someone just to get a spot in heaven. I'm not Catholic/Christian (assuming this is the target audience), but let's hope that you can't dupe an omniscient God just by being sorry for purely selfish reasons. No WIN, only FAIL.
  • I'd forgive faster than you can say Jack Robinson:)
  • I think god is like Santa Clause. He knows if your good or bad, so don't bother pretending to be good if your not. I'd rather argue with God about it anyway. I'm sure he'd see my point eventually.
  • I cannot be forced to forgive someone, but I could learn over time... if I understood why they hurt me that way, I might certainly be able to move past it, but some hurts have worse effects on us in the long run... There are a few thinbgs that I find nearly impossible to forgive, but maybe, just maybe, there is still hope...
  • I do my best, for just that reason. I think that is one of the things that God meant for us to learn that we can't do it without his help.
  • I think anyone that will forgive someone, or do anything for that matter, simply because they want to make sure they get a spot in heaven and not because they just want to do the right thing, reward or not, is a selfish fucking bastard.
  • no i wouldnt, i want to forgive for my own piece of mind. i dont want to carry it with me through my life whether i get a place in heaven or not. forgiveness for a reward is not real forgiveness, so id lose my place anyway.:)
  • Well, I have already asked God into my heart, so I know that no matter what I do or don't do I am still going to heaven. But if it did depend on my forgiving someone, then yeah, I'd forgive them in a heart beat! :D Would you?
  • Forgiveness means that you don't try to get revenge or closure, or whatever. It doesn't mean that you aren't hurt or bothered by something that was done to you.
  • Undoubtedly i would forgive the person. God doesn't want us to hold grudges and wants us to forgive them, as God forgives us for our mistakes and sins. It;s not worth it to stay angry at the person to lose your spot in Heaven. I think that it would be hard for me to forgive the person, conseidering the damage it has caused in my life, but i also want to see myself in Heaven for all eternity, so i forgive the person, and i would mean it, wholeheartedly. God knows that it would be difficult to forgive but her also knows that i am a forgiving person anyway, so he knows that i will listen to him and be a good Christian.
