  • Any landlord, anywhere can raise the rent any time to any amount he or she wants to, "unless" there is a "lease agreement" then it can not be raised until the lease is up, then the landlord has to give you 30 days notice so you can decide if you want to move out or not. If you have no "lease agreement" and you live there on a month to month basis the landlord can raise the rent every month if he or she wants to. And if you don't give thirty days notice of moving out, the landlord can charge you back rent for every month that property is empty until he rents it again! It's always a very smart thing to do, to have a written lease agreement or landlords can "really" take advantage of you, but good!!
