  • I'm not familiar with that particular car. If you have a slide bar that you can choose "recirculating or fresh air", put that on recirculating air. This should make sure the outside vent is closed. If you still get the floor wet, then it may be the seal on that vent has moved or is deteriated. If this happens when the heater is on, then you have a different problem of the heater core leaking.
  • I think it's unlikely that so much water would come from the Heat/AC system. It's more likely that you have a leak around one or more of the windows. The windshield and the backlight are most common source of such leaks. Another possibility is that the water drain holes in one or more of the door cavities are plugged. When this happens, water can fill the inside of the door and overflow into the cabin. One cheap way to check this is to take the car to a coin-op car wash. Spray water at each window while a friend checks for leaks inside the car. Good luck
  • I know that the A2 chassis Golfs and Jettas had issues with this. I heard that some A3s did as well; your 1994 is an A3. The problem usually stems from water entering the door windows and running down the inside of the doors. It rusts the window mechanism and door latch/lock and if the plastic membrane behind the inner door panel is damaged or the drains in the bottom of the door are blocked, or it it just feels like it, some of that water may enter the passenger compartment and settle on the floor. Four out of five A2 Golfs (and a few A3s) I have seen have rusted out floorboards as a result.
