Cigarettes, they killed my father, or greatly contributed to his demise. He was addicted to smoking three or four packs a day. One right after another. He died a horrible death, high blood pressure, huge clots of blood would come out his nose, and his eyes would roll back into his head, it was horrifying to watch as a kid...hearing the ambulance sirens coming to take him yet again to the hospital for emergency care. He suffered his last days on earth. So that word brings back all those memories and sadden my heart. He weighed 80 pounds when he died. He went from 175 pounds down to that! He had tubes everywhere. He had suffered chain strokes. And the pain of losing him, well it took years to manage the pain of losing him. He was buried on a gray cold February day, it was 10 below zero. Everything was still, dead, the frozen ground was just as cold and dead as he was in his coffin. I was so upset I had to be taken back to the car, I couldn't manage it the grave site ceremony, so all I remember were hands on my arms and being lead back to the car. So, 30 years later, I still see that pain. That is what the words Lucky STRIKE MEANS TO ME. My dad was a wonderful friend and father. I think about him often with great loss and sadness but I do have wonderful memories to counteract the sadness.
