It must have been sometime during the mid 70's to early 80's that it became preferrable (i.e. fashionable) for women to trim, and in come cases shave their pubic hair. I've often wondered what promted this change in our culture. Any ideas?

1 - Novelties, especially those that end up selling additional products (special bikini-zone hair removers, shaving creams, razors, etc), go mainstream. 2 - Fashions that showed more of the pubic area (skimpier panties and swimsuits) came to the fore. 3 - Many women hated the hairy look and wanted to do something about it but were to shy to be the first one in the gym changing room to sport a bald eagle.

I'd say it was porn. Think about it... AIDS awareness was on the rise. Cleaner was becomeing a quick necessity... Women getting eaten out in every seen. (hair in the teeth is a bitch) You can see things better without a big bushity bush in the way. Clean up is much easier. Much harder to get crabbs from a coworker... I could go on and on listing the reasons, but you get the idea.
