Why would someone do drugs close enough to a drug test to have to worry if they're clean or not? (not trying to insult I am sincerely curious)

Because people are not the brightest of creatures. An excellent example: A friend of my mother's has a son who is due for a drug test to get a job. He's trying to find someone to do the urine test -for- him, because his system is so full of whatever he's doing now that there's no way he'll pass.
