Do something for yourself. Depression can't be solved by running away from yourself, but by running towards yourself. It sounds corny, but it is so damn true. Embrace who you are and spend time with yourself. Create some lists of what you like and what you don't like about yourself. Enhance the LIKES and figure out a way to reduce the DISLIKES. Don't expect it to turn around tomorrow.

If you are suffering from "clinical" depression, you should visit a physician. There are treatments they can help you with. What you have done so far is a great start. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on "How to Articles" then type "treat depression" in the search box. You will find some great tips there.

I have been using music to lift my spirits lately. If something gets me down, I pop in something that I know will lift my mood. It just might get you over a slump.

Cuttergirl, you are such a great friend to me on AB and always pick me up when I am feeling down. You always ask me how I am, and I look forward to talking to you everyday. I just want you to remember how appreciated you are. It is really difficult to work that hard, and I will be sending extra positive vibes that you feel better soon. Kiss your guinea pig, do some writing, have a delicious vegetarian sandwich, and get as much rest as you can! ((((HUG))))

Listen to comedy albums, and concentrate on THEM, not what you are getting depressed about. Allow yourself to laugh when you would if you WEREN'T depressed. It will help. (Sometimes, even if you FAKE something, if you do it long enough, it will become true... Such as ... You KNOW what lines you'd normally laugh at... Laugh at them.) Watch sitcoms or comedy movies, and not anything depressing, like soaps, drama, or real-life doctor stories. My mom spent years depressed, and couldn't figure out why. THEN, she got busy and a job where she couldn't watch her "stories" for a while, and her mood changed. Soaps are depressing, if you think about it. Dramas and real-life doctor shows (Discovery Health, etc.) are too. Don't watch them until you feel better. Then, if you feel yourself backsliding, don't watch them any more. ;-) The more you do either of the above, the easier it becomes when you find yourself depressed. Oh... And remember... Tomorrow is another day. Don't drag your depression into it, if you can keep from it. Start fresh every day, and KNOW that no matter what happens, even if you get depressed during the day, tomorrow will be a new start. AND, if you CAN'T get over being depressed, talk to someone... A counselor, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a doctor, your clergy... Maybe that will help. (And doctors can prescribe meds or a lifestyle change that may help, too.)
