4, only a few weeks shy of 5.
I'm actually about to start my 4 year old this fall, though she wont' turn 5 until February and would not be allowed in the public schools in my area because she's too young. She wants to do it though, and I see no reason for a year of her hard work to be put to waste because the federal government tells her she's too little to want to learn.
I was 4 years old, barely.
I was 4. I graduated high school at 17.
5, but I got held back due to missing too many days, so I had to repeat it at 6.
Twelve. I did a stint in the army first;)
6... when i was young i was diagnosed with arrested development so my parents thought i should be on the older end but even then i was always the youngest looking one... when i graduated high school people thought i was 12 still
I started teaching it when I was 40:)

I never did!!!!! Oh No...Dose that mean I have to go back & start all over? Hope they got big chairs. ...LOL........................M.C.S.
I was five, but within a couple of months they had placed me in the youngest G&T class: third grade. I remember being really psyched because our kindergarten room adjoined the second-grade room, and I “knew” my best friend from G&T was a third-grader and could therefore beat up any second-graders that might have it in for me. :-D
(The next year, when I was in first grade, the school system started a second-grade G&T class and I was placed in that.)
Never went to kindergarten....my mom sent me straight to Grade 1 and it took me only a month to catch up with the rest.
I was ALMOST 4 :D and the smartest one

That is an interesting thought. Will you be home schooling her or do you have privatized Kindergarten where you live?

I'll be homeschooling her. We can't really afford private school, and I would like to homeschool her anyway. She's a smart little cookie, but needs a lot of attention, and I'm pretty sure she'll do better with a one-on-one setting than a one-on-thirty classroom setting. She has other ways to learn how to be part of a group and cooperate with other children.

I homeschooled until my boys were in the third grade. I am so thankful for that time with them. They were a little immature but smart little guys too. They have gone in and adjusted to public school with no problems (except for some of the junk their mouths bring home!) :)

Quite. I was actually homeschooled from 1-12 myself. But unless I tell you, you'd never guess it. I had no trouble from it, but I was really glad to be at home, happy to learn without having to deal with the idiocy and without having to wait for the other kids to keep up with me. I tried a class or two in high school and quit because I had the top grade in a class full of kids complaining it was too hard, and I'd only studied once and thought it was too slow and too little. My senior year in high school I took a college class which I still had the top grade in, but at least I had to study and it was a challenge instead of boring. And I tend to think my kids are actually smarter than I am, if anything.

I'm in the same situation. My daughter will also turn 5 during the next school year in February. She's been buggin me too let her go to school. I didn't think about home schooling her, but I'm enrolling her in head start this coming school year. I'm not sure if it'll be challenging enough for her though and I'm not one to be home schooling any child. Does anyone have any suggestions?
