At the time of the accident, you apparently "knew" you did not have auto insurance, but told the officer you did. this is why i ask for physical proof(an insurance card). This is considered giving false information to the police and you can be arrested for it. Your citation received, is valid.

The officers were not at the borough building when I called to report the accident. I carefully moved the car to a safe location and contacted them with my info after the accident. It was at that time that I was told to photocopy my license registration and financial responsibly information and drop it off at the barracks. On copying the information I could not locate a current insurance card that is when I contacted my insurance company and found that I did not have one. I never told the officer otherwise and even furnished the expired card. There was no officer on the scene and I had no reason to think that my insurance was not valid before I tried to furnish them with the information.

It's your responsibility to know whether you are insured or not, and to make sure that you are. Ignorance is not an excuse for breaking the law, sorry.

I attempted to call the police to the scene due to the heavy activity of the holiday no one was available to respond. I called a ride home then called county control and reported it in that fashion it was less than an hour and a half after the accident that I was finally able to report it to an on duty officer.

I guess I was not specific enough I had limited characters to type I am being charged 5000 for restitution and did not cause that amount of damage. I entered the fence at one side and the gate side was previously damaged. I am being charged for all the damage to the property. I do not have the ability to pay for all the damage that I did not cause, but I feel that because I was uninsured I am being "pinned" with replacing the whole fence. I know I am responsible for the damage I caused and the financial responsibility. I did not intentionally lie to anyone however and I did not cause 5000 worth of damage.
