  • A Mac is a PC with training wheels. If you want a real computer, get a PC.
  • if i saw a version of that "air" mac that had a firewire port... then i might be more motivated for money! i have always wanted to build the perfect fan less computer
  • With todays Macs their is very little disadvantages mainly because with current Intel based Macs you can run both Mac OS X and Windows XP or Vista. As far as running OS X or Windows most applications or substitutes for them are found on the Mac platform, if you are heavy into gaming then I would check to make sure your game of choice is supported (alot of game publishers are developing for the Mac). Windows has the largest install base so you will find that more apps are developed for the PC. If security is your main concern the Mac platform is the way to go, its not perfect but it is leaps and bounds better than the PC/Windows side. Hope that helps.
  • I'm with powermacman on this one. But let me try my own words. I find Mac is very well designed. For me it's not so much 'what' they have as much as 'how' they implemented it. Generally, things are more intuitive. The OS is designed specifically for the collection of hardware in the box, so the reliability factor improves. No - Apple doesn't have as much of a software library as Windows, but now you can run Windows alongside your Mac OS if you need to. Their downfall - price. It is often hard to justify the extra cost if the best you can offer as an argument is better design. I bought a Macbook as an experiment in 2007, while still owning a Win-tel laptop. The Win-tel laptop was sold a few months ago. The experiment was a success. I like my Macbook. I still have a Windows desktop.
  • Honestly, it's not worth the money. A standard Mac costs about twice as much as what buying a PC would be with the same specs. Get a PC, costs less, has more software, better games, it's just plain preferable.
  • the mac is designed around media. if you use your laptop for primarily pictures, music and video, its a no brainer. if you use your computer more for business and document spreadsheets, hands down the pc has that market. not to say that they cant do both, they can. i just think the programs for each are more user friendly depending on what you do more of.
