  • Your metabolism reaches it's lowest point while you are sleeping, therefore it is the time when the least calories are being burned, and the time that the most excess calories are likely to be converted into fat. Also, sleep is when the body switches into a healing mode and increases it's elimination of toxins. The energy for these processes is not able to be fully utilized for these processes if it must be utilized for digestion and storage of fats at this time.
  • They say it's bad because if you eat right before going to bed, you're not going to do anything for the next 8 hours or so to burn them off, which means that they'll have a chance to become fat cells.
  • Well, my common sense says: If you're going to bed, the calories are going to end up being unused because you're not going to exert any energy to burn them, and food-energy not used is stored as fat. But that's my common sense, which hasn't gotten me very far in life, so who knows. :P Plus, I know people who directly relate it to giving nightmares, but I always thought it as a wive's tale. :S
  • thats because... when we sleep the metabolism of our body slows down.. and leads to storing the body fats.. but during the day... since we are involved in a number of activities.. our metabolism rate is high and helps in burning the body fats.. though it all depends on what you eat before sleeping.. views vary depending on person to person.. though this mighht not be the exact answer to your question but i hope it was of some help.. :)
