I don't think so. Some people are not really into announcing their birthdays in public, especially in a website. They might even see it as an invasion of privacy. Besides, we learn of members' birthdays anyway because their friends post birthday questions for them. I think that's enough.

I let my AB friends take care of announcing the milestones and important events in my life. We do have that choice to keep personal information such as birthdays private. A special birthday section will create a clutter problem on the home page and it would take away some of the advertising space that is essential for paying for the operation of this site.

This feature is on Facebook and I don't list my birthdate because I don't celebrate my birthday or the birthday's of others. It would not be something of interest to me.
