It all depends on the resolution of your photo. One simple way to check is to make it in Powerpoint. Go to page setup, and choose "custom" and then type in the numbers for the size of the poster you need to create.
Add your photo and stretch it out accordingly. Then view your powerpoint at 100%. It if looks pixel-y, then you need a higher resolution photo. Generally speaking, it will print exactly how it looks at 100%.
If you've already created the poster, and need to make it larger now, then you're kinda hosed. There's no way to get around it getting ugly - you're just stretching pixels at this point. You can't add resolution to an already created project. Your best bet would be to start from scratch at the size you need to begin with.

You're reading I need to make a poster photo on my computer much larger without it turning all ugly and pixel. Is this possible? How can I do this?
