  • Without a doubt. I've been hooked for at least 10 years now, and no amount of 12-step or detox is working. In fact, my whole family -- wife and 2 kids -- have been hooked for years. I think the basic problem is that once you start using it (e.g. when your lips are chapped), something changes in your soul. You can no longer tolerate the feeling of even mildly dry lips, so you reach for that little tube of relief. After doing this a few times, you start thinking "maybe I should carry this tube with me". That's a real turning point for the addiction -- you don't realize the lifetime commitment you're making. From there its a short hop to (1) justifying your habit (2) pretending to others that you don't have one (3) convincing yourself that you can quit anytime and finally (4) anyone in your life who tries to help is discarded like a used Handiwipe. Its sad but true. Don't go down the path we went down, if there's still time, save yourself!!
  • It's funny, I used to need it all winter. Then I moved to Eastern Europe and didn't need it for a dozen years. Suddenly two winters ago I needed it again, but only a cheap local product was available. I very much doubt that many different companies, even on different continents, would put in fiberglass--sounds like an urban legend. And no idea why the need came back.
  • Although yo may be funning us with this I want to point out that anything can be addictive. Addiction is no so much the drug or drink or object of the addicts attention (chap stick) it is the behaviors and the "need" to use. When the obsession with a thing becomes more powerful than that persons ability to not use/drink/eat or put it on then they have an addiction. Addiction is a series of behaviors not the object of the addiction.
  • yes my english teacher was saying that when you use it when your lips aren't chapped and you use i for a while when not needing it your lips will no longer depend on moisturizing themselves. i hope that answers the question
