Do people in power who think centuries ahead (surely being the reason they are World leaders today) actually think in terms of survival of the fittest in a worst case scenario where they would ensure the survival of themselves and their kith and kin?

Our current president says he thinks decades ahead to when people will say that the usa did the right thing by establishing a democracy in Iraq. The people of the future will say that the new government was worth the loss of so many lives. frankly I cant see where losing so many young men and women from the usa will help Iraq. it hurts the usa so much these days. I am short sighted, I guess.

If you are suggesting survival of themselves as viewed along the lines of "a family" tree, this is unlikely. Unified POWER would have to be more of a cadre. If not, abnormal speciation would take place. I suspect they would more than likely think more along the lines of "Power" and not Darwinism.
