  • I would label Dante's inferno as something which is quite near to truth.. Dante seems to have foreseen all that is going to happen in future and has vividly portrayed in his wonderful work.. it is a masterpiece which will remain evergreen and sweep over all literary work of arts throughout history.
  • Yes it is amazing how he catagorized genres of different type of 'sinners' and what I found tremendous is how he managed to allocate an adequate place for each charactor from ancient myths. It is indeed a masterpiece but how true or possible is this excellent , outrageous story?
  • So which circles do death metal bands go in cos I want to go there lol
  • "The bitterest woe of woes is to remember, in our wretchedness, old, happy times." - The Inferno - A lot of truth to this, no? ;-)
  • It's a visionary 'myth' and contains much Truth in terms of the human condition. It's only blasphemous if you are trying to rigidly compare it to the doctrines of the Catholic Church for example. It is a fine piece of literature and like all 'great' literature it is both inspirational and instructive. Read, learn, enjoy and ponder...
  • While and after I read Dante's Inferno I was very uneasy. I found it very disturbing for some reason. Maybe because of the way of my sins....LOL....are made good in multiple levels...
  • Allegory! ;-)
  • Unless I am mistaken, there is a section in it about Mohommed being tortured in Hell. I imagine that Islamic Fundamentalists might consider this blasphemy and get very annoyed if they were aware of it.
  • All of these. Hell is a myth, some of the characters found in his hell were real and many of the ideas he implied in the story were blasphemous to many who read them at the time they were written and to some people even today.
  • Alternate fantasy?! ;-)
  • The best part of Dante's Inferno is most definitely how he found a way to punish his own real life enemies by immortalizing and punishing them in the various circles of Hell.
