Good question, Andromeda is a large spiral galaxy, it is also the most famous of all galaxies as well as the most distant object visible to the naked eye, and the nearest major galaxy to our Milky Way. In some ways its spiral structure resembles that of our own galaxy, but it is about twice as massive. Here is some more information on it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andromeda_Galaxy And some Images of it, http://images.google.com/images?q=andromeda+galaxy&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title As well as some more interesting links... http://messier.obspm.fr/m/m031.html http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/070107_andromeda_halo.html I hope this is helpful.
