Probably a trumpeting noise, like that of its great-grandchildren, the elephants. You missed a treat! In the 1920's, some Russian slave-laborers found a Mammoth carcass. It was frozen in a Siberian glacier, where it had been preserved for thousands of years. It was served at a meeting of scientists in Moscow. Yum!
