  • Maybe they are struggling to find a way to show that they are concerned because the emo/goth kid looks so terribly sad and lonely.
  • From what I have seen they are always seeking attention, by the way they dress, act, and talk. They often come on Answerbag with their problems, asking for "help".
  • i used to be one... Now im happy and insist on wearing lots of color everyday, but as many of you may have read on other bullitins i was raped at a young age and i think without knowing it i dressed like en emo/goth. i dont know what it was, i was a generally happy person, i just insisted on wearing black, chains, the netting on my sleeves... but that was years ago =] and i got lots of looks for that, i hate staring at eople and i dont know why people never leave other people alone, im sorry but i really dont know =[
  • i really have no idea. i'm an emo and people wouldn't leave me alone during school. it was so annoying. i wish people would leave emo's alone because there's nothing wrong with it. and if these kids are depressed, the people who hate them should help them instead of insult them.
  • i like emo music, but do not only use a kind of style... the point, is that adopting a kind of style, a kind of trend, and fitting in it would be generalization. your clothes, expecially if not common and unfitted to the situation , would figure out as something that is just there to differentiate you from the mass. but a human is not to be discerned from what he wears, but from he's capable of. so, in acting like this you adopt a trend and with it a personality, not necessairly totally yours, wich is object of generalizations. it's like wearing a costume: people do not see you, because what you show is the shape of the costume, like a mask, exactly, for example, would be the same if you'd see someone around dressed like a clown, or batman, or sorts. you know there's a man inside it, but you do not see it apparently. you see a clown, you see batman, and whatsover therefore you react to him as you would react to someone you don't know(face is masked) and treat him with a stereotypical pattern because the dress, the costume, opens ways to generalization... i'm not saying that it is right. no, of course it isn't but, it's even true that otherwise you wouldn't experience lots of things... like the laughs out of a clown gag( i do not really like clowns), you wouldn't laugh seeing the human hurt inside. at least NOT a sensible human being... and so on... it's just that a costume, a frame opens generalizations in people minds, and dressing like goths or emos you fit costume somehow...wich are there and you can't do anything about it, as like as are the generalizations in peoples minds. so again, i'm not saying that it is right. i'm only saying that it is like this... or can be seen like this. all in all, i like the emo fashon, not extreme, but i like it expecially some kinds of haircuts
  • They are kinda funny.
  • these people who make fun at emo are doing it because the way emo are protesting to the way world is (dont forget that emo started as hardcore punk and itey have their hair like that to prevent them to see the sadness in the world) and they see their faces and mistakes in their life in emos and the way they are protesting
  • (ANSWER to Fovois: I'm replying here because it took me more space than in the comments, guess i should tell i'm sorry for it) well, i'm into psicology, genetics, human behaviour, etology, probabilityes, anthropology and lots of other things, like quite a lot of people, whom you can't really meet normally. some behavioral compounds in a person attitude are led by some types of chemical receptors in your cells and the way they work. in other words, the most of your natural preference, even alchool and smoke preferences, are genetically written down first than you ever beging to know what's around you. Now, same is for the attitude. like type-A males who necessairly need to dominate, and are led to being the firsts in act in a certain, competitive way (like crushing all the others, cometitive way of thinking, prespective of life only seen by the acctual world- therefore justifiing it, and ofcourse you know that it is stoopid-, mostly under marketing way of seeing world, or making fun someone just to get the girl, for examples... these only stereotipical examples, just to get the kind) the point is that a tipical emo attitude in most of the percentually genetical driven a-type , wich are the most abundant on earth, induces a kind of response. due to millenniums passed in caves and wild life, a Biochemical brain imprinting as selected sorts of females and males to be the fittest, and this reflects in lots of things, expecially nowdays. that's nor good neither bad. if you want you can see it like this. i'm not saying that eveyone is only a type or another type, no. it works in a percentual/probability matter, like being constituted in percentage, to this add a 30-25% of life experiences and you got what you call a human. 70-75% it's mostly genetically written. you can go against your nature, ad being successful too, sure, who denies that. but you'll never be happy, simply because forceing you into a behavioural pattern wich isn't genetically "yours" (intentionally, or by behavioural deviations) you'll imply more energy than how much you would as being something you are genetically cling to. this leads to a constant loss of energy, biochemical energy and aural/spiritual(as you like) electromagnetical energy, leaving your tank empity, or half empity, leading you to constant stress and leaks. Therefore, being unhappy because you are energetically unbalanced. So, you are prone to be something just because you are quite born like that, the most. so, people who pick jokes at emos, does it just because they gain some sort of fun, pleasure in doing it, or they wouldn't. how many other things wich deserve to be ridiculized , aren't/really aren't enough, because people find it not/not enough fun? and there would be lots, tons, wich are a billion orders of magnitude bigger in comparison with the emo thing. wich has really no matter to be. now, personally, if i decide that something doesn't belongs to me, i simply quit and do my bidding, not boring anyone. nor following, bugging, spying, neither whatever could led to personals violations, because it's stoopid and futile. to me and to others. and belive me, you neither know what i am capable of. therefore, to me doesn't really exist the concept of picking a joke on someone just because he exist, or listens to some kind of music, or sorts. just, read only previus sentence, and you should agree that has sense. same, apply it to all the discussion... whatever, in the end, piece by piece it is just music, and that is just style and attitude and, all in all , it has really nothing to do with how and who were the people who started the "emo"(generalization) music. same here, doesn't really matter if i like a bit of this and bit of that, is fireing on a crowd and pretending to hit "the bad guy" -.- because that's what we're doing here, c'mon. isn't it? it has no meaning, that's all. neither i like this "emo" word. it's like call all the people who are similar with the same name. even me, i just like like to do what i feel, and never sticked strickly to one kind of 'human goup' or 'definition'. to me, has no sense. i am me, not who others thik i could be, and would not care 6 pence none the richer, even because nowdays emo bands doesn't brand themselves as punk or hardore punk, wich i like either . i mean, it is so much of a generalistic answer that, the penny dropped is lots more like that mostly are the peoples, who love to pick inconsistent jokes, than how much really that joke could be sensed
  • I'm an emo kid, and i don't know why people are mean to emos. I was bullied for being emo :'(

  • Well i got teased at this awful school in new zealand i tried to be friends with seniors (year 8's) but i was in year 6 (year 6's so immature) it turned out the year 8's were more immature then the 6's i was a loner but, called an emo,and this hot senior guy will said i was an emo but he just wanted my attention because he liked me (he was sooooo hot) and i'm actually a goth alot of people mistaken me for an emo.
  • [Seen on a T-shirt] "Just remember when you're laughing at me because I'm different... I'm laughing at you because you're all the same." Hope this helps.
  • People judge emo/goths because they simply don't understand what is different from them. I, personally, am emo, but I do not let others' opinions get to me. I am also Wiccan. "People fear what is unlike them."
