  • From your question, I conclude that the paper has been removed and just the glue is left. Try softening the glue with water and use a scrubby to scrape as much of it off as possible. Be careful with all that extra liquid though as it could permanently damage the sheetrock. If all else fails, you could try sanding it off. Start out with a coarser grit and finish with a finer grit. I don't know what you are doing to the wall after removing the wallpaper, but if you are going to paint, make sure you use a good primer so that there is no chance that any residual glue or anything you have tried using to remove it could seep through.
  • Steamers work very well for lifting off the old crap.
