you need to see a psychologist so he/she can diagnose you with the disorder, sometimes you just feel theres something wrong with you but to know for sure you have to be diagnosed, i mean it could be another disorder even if you are convinced that what you have is avoidant personality disorder so go get checked if you want to know for sure.

I have avoidant personality disorder. How to find out: Traits of an avoidant personality disorder: you tend to avoid social situations you have suspicions of people you are more of a recluse than a social person you avoid social functions because you don't want to be seen you are depressed If you don't inhibit these traits, then you don't have it.

If your symptoms prevent you from having a full life and feeling fulfilled then you need to seek professional help. Maybe have a word with your doctor first? Social anxiety can cause you to become isolated and depressed. It is possible that a cognitive/behavioural therapist can help you to overcome your problems.

The Wikipedia article of avoidant personality disorder is very detailed. It lists all the diagnostic criteria for the disease. If a certain amount of them apply to you (I forget the number, but it is stated in the article), then that indicates you have it.
