Is anyone trying to write or has written their own novel, particularly sci-fi?

Yes and no. I've managed to pump out one or two short stories (mainly SF). But everytime I try for a longer work, it dies about chapter five or six. So if you were to count the 16 or 17 novels I've started but never finished as one great big epic... then that's one. Hope this helps.

I am trying to write a story. I don't know how long it will be but it is not sci-fi. I did try to write a fantasy story once.

Not a novel, but short stories. Mine are fantasy..knights, dragons and damsels in distress (not really, my damsels can more than hold their own). I have one I am working on now, but am hopelessly stuck..I have tried to inject humor in this one and it has worked pretty well so far but I am only 3 chapters into it.
