  • No, I was young when I got them on... about 4th grade and no one else had them so I seemed older to my classmates LOL. Also, when everyone else got older around 7th or 8th grade and started getting them, I already had perfectly straight teeth! :) However, I do remember the pain and the sleepless nights when they tightened them!! And I hated all the food that got stuck in them and I swear I didnt smile for 2 years while they were on!!!! LOL
  • I have to say as a fourteen year old who has braces I have not lost any confidence getting them. I actually wanted braces! Its kinda cool how you can put on different colors for different occasions. In fact many of my friends either have braces or will get them in the next 3 years anyway. I always try to keep up my confidence by exercising and being outside. All this helps me feel good about who and what I am regardless of what other people might think about me. And im sure that when I get them off I will have perfectly straight teeth. I sure hope my post helped in some way. ~~Your friend Livingstrong14
  • I had them, and it didn't lessen my confidence one bit. I kinda liked them, actually. And they looked okay on me. It never stopped me from giving anyone a nice toothy grin :)
  • When I got braces (1964) they were not popular and only in the past 15 years have I learned to smile where my teeth show. Try to smile anyways so you don't do what I did.
  • At first yeah, but I got over it.
  • Oh God damn, they pissed me right off! I used to hate smiling for photos when i had them and i could never eat bread or anything in public. Mind you, im thankful that i did have them because my teeth are sweet as pie now
  • No. I like my braces.
  • I wouldnt say it took away confidence but I really didnt want them and I thoght I wasnt going to get them and then My parents/dentist ended up making me get them when I was like 15 or 16 so most people had already gotten thiers off and I was just getting mine put on. I was really embarassed to have them and really didnt show them much until I ended up dating a girl that still had them too.
