  • It depends on what kind of guard your opponent has up as well as how much you're seeing through your gloves. Generally, I would say watch the shoulders/upper chest area as pretty much all punches can be seen starting from there. Sometimes you'll hear people say to watch the eyes, but eyes have a tendency to dart around anyway and while you're watching them your opponent could have a solid jab coming your way. Watching just the hands will probably not afford you much reaction time from when you see your opponent making a punch. All in all, the most important things are to develop your awareness and recognize the signs of a punch in development all the while not becoming too fixated on just one part of your visual.
