  • Waist Deep in the Big Muddy, that was written during my time 1967 to be exact. Tho it was about a WW II training platoon ordered to keep marching into a Lousiana swamp, ever one knew what war it was really about. Pete was gonna sing it on the Smothers Brothers Show, a call from White House to CBS got it censored. "...We were -- knee deep in the Big Muddy, But the big fool said to push on. ...We were -- waist deep in the Big Muddy And the big fool said to push on. ...We were -- neck deep in the Big Muddy And the big fool said to push on. ...Waist deep in the Big Muddy! And the big fool says to push on!" From earlier it's "Which Side Are You On?" even tho he didn't write it, a great labor movement song. Which of course reminds me of Woody's 'Union Maid,'..."ya can't scare me I'm stickin with the Union...' Hmmm... that's three that 1st came to mind, the thirst song that came to mind? No! The thirst song is Woody's 'Dust Peemonia Blues'... 'I got that dust peemony, peemony in my lung ,...Down in Texas, my good gal fainted in the rain, Drop a water fell outa the sky laid her out cold on the plain, I throwed a bucket o' dirt in her face just to bring her back again.' Next thing ya know I'll be talkin 'bout Jimmy Rogers, but you started it, what with all this comnistic rabble rousin music talk. Gotta go, Hank Williams special is on PBS.
