  • When you're put on probation, you agree to abide by the terms of your probation. In exchange, you are not sentenced to the maximum punishment for your crime. Your sentence could be anything from reinstatement of probation with no additional jail time imposed to being incarcerated for up to the maximum sentence. It depends on the jurisdiction and the standard practice for that particular court. Some judges look at a failure to appear as a "technical violation" and do not treat it that harshly. Others see any violation as a failure on your part to live up to your bargain and will punish accordingly. Contact your attorney ASAP. The longer you wait past your court date, the worse it will be.
