I think rather it is "who" not "what". Those "who" are on the spot at the moment somthing occurs (reporters, for example) inform the rest of us. Those who are intelligent and thoughtful and ponder/congitate/think come up with ideas and share those ideas with the rest of us. Poets see life creatively..artists paint what they observe on canvas...authors come up with ideas based on pure imagination (science fiction) or observation and write beautiful stories from which we take what we can in the way of values, examples, behavior patterns. We all can "inform" one another by sharing what we know, by asking what occurs to us, by listening to others and coming up with valid questions to further the dialog. :)
