  • Media Player Classic is pretty good. Although I must confess I use iTunes... The only Apple product I don't dislike.
  • http://www.foobar2000.org/ Foobar2000 is easily the best audio player out there, hands-down. It may not be as flashy as other players, but when it comes to functionality and playback quality, Foobar2000 is unequivocably superior to all the alternatives. First, it's freeware, completely spyware free, and open to third-party plug-ins. Second, it can read all imaginable audio formats. Third, it has very low memory usage. Fourth, it is completely customisable, allowing you to tailor it to your needs. Its features are too many to list here. Basically, it's a dozen programs rolled into one. It will easily edit ID3 tags, eliminating the need for an external editor. It'll rip your CDs to any format, as well as easily convert anything into anything else. Gapless playback. Oh, and I still haven't managed to make it crash. Foobar2000 for audio and VLC (or Media Player Classic) for video is all you'll ever need.
