Being someone totally adverse to the stupid metric system, Miles per hour is the only real measure of speed for me. Whenever someone quotes anything metric I have to convert it to the correct measure to actually understand what the hell it is or how far it is or how much it actually weighs in practical terms since no normal person weighs things in grams or looks how many centimeters something is. Long live the Old English system. Here in America, until we hear an NBA player shoots a 5 meter jump shot, or hits a baseball over the wall which is 200 meters away, or NASCAR has a 500 kilometer race, the metric system is useless.

I was brought up with MPH and more comfortable with it for it takes time to convert in my head to metric.

km/h and m/s 'm/s' is 'meters per second', so that would be a sub-unit of the same thing!
