  • It would, if they had teeth.
  • Yes. They do not have teeth but they bite with their jagged beaks, hold on, and slice food or whatever else they encounter.
  • Yes, Some species of turtles have strong jaws and can bite through fingers.
  • The Red Eared Slider bite does hurt. I know I have one. When putting medicine on him once he got too close to my hand & took hold. I did bleed.
  • When my daughter was 6, she tried to kiss her box turtle and it bit her on the upper lip and wouldn't let go. I got a butter knife and my child started screaming, thinking I was about to cut the turtle's head off! Actually I just slipped the knife between the turtle's jaws to pry its beak open and it released her lip instantly! My daughter has a teeny scar like a "^" right above the middle of her upper lip! Yes, it hurts.
  • Not only it does hurt...but most importantly they will bite every time they have the chance. It is hard to explain, because certainly they are not mean animals, but is just like they bite (and won't let go) by instinct anything that gets in range and moves. They do not have teeth, but the amount of pressure they can put in their beaks (even the small ones) is huge....so again, yes it hurts.
  • Yup. Hurts like hell, but the level of hell is determined by the size and species of the turtle or tortoise. And, as a commenter pointed out, where you get bitten. Turtles and tortoises have beak like mouths and generally eat by ripping chunks of fruits, veggies, and just about anything else (depending on species) off with their mouths. Even though many species are herbivores, their mouths are still quite powerful. Snapping turtles are a particular species with incredibly powerful jaws. When I was a kid, one crawled out of the swamp near our house and snapped a shovel handle in half with its jaws as my dad tried to push it away from our driveway. Many turtles eat some pretty nasty stuff and, as a result, their mouths are full of some pretty nasty bacteria and other diseases.
  • I would say yes, but I have never been bitten by one. I have two red ear sliders and they are fairly friendly and won't bite me, but I have seen them tear goldfish apart into tiny pieces so I know that they can bite very hard.
  • Depending the reaction and size of the jaw. When my red ear slider bit me, I didn't hurt one bit, it kind of tickled. The female how ever bit hard and doesn't like getting intimidated. The species varys.
  • wow yall are sum assholes.!!!
