Yes that is odd. Humans (homo sapiens) exist only since about 150000 years. And we've just recently made huge advances in science. But those advances, instead of strenghtening the odds of survivial of our species, lowered them. Pollution, Tschernobyl, World War 2, almost a nuclear inferno during the Cold War, now man-made global warming, the threat of biological weapons etc. etc. This shows that evolution doesn't have a foresight. Intelligence seemed a good path of survival for our ancestors, but I wouldn't be too sure about it now... However, I have faith in humanity, and I hope that we will ceade to be arrogant and selfish and start caring for the environment, because the earth doesn't have unlimited resources. Even though humans are the only species with conscious foresight, we're not using it, we're still living in the moment instead of planning and economically using our precious resources.
