    They were kept as companions and for religious purposes among the ancient Toltecs and Aztecs.

    I did research, and found out that the chihuahua was bred by Aztecs, to be eaten by Aztecs, perhaps why they're so jumpy all the time?

    they were kept as companions and this is why they are in the toy group
