  • I like Belgium the way it is, I like bilingual countries. But maybe the Flemish population feel somewhat hard done by, minority populations usually do, and feel they would be happier in their own country. Or maybe they could join Holland, as their two languages are similar. While we are at it what is stopping the French Belgians from becoming part of France?
  • call me patriotic, but in my heart i don't want Belgium to split. i want to remain a Belgian. i am flemish, and i have nothing with the Walloniers. i don't know any of them and i even don't know any people who know people there, and when i go there i feel like i am already in a different country. the language is different, the culture is different, their attitude is just different. in a way Vlaanderen and Wallonie were never together in the first place, except for politics. i think you have to be from Belgium to really understand. Despite that i don't feel like Wallonie is a part of my country anyway, i want Belgium to remain Belgium because i am scared what will happen to it when it splits. i know that the Dutch people would want Vlaanderen to be part of Holland again,( i live in Holland now, ironically, so i know a lot of Dutch people) but i don't want that. our culture is different from theirs, our social security system is different from theirs (better if you ask me), our school system is different, and i could go on and on... i am afraid we will loose that. i dont think Vlaanderen will stay a country on its own. its too small for that.
