The educated answer is that whatever is best for you and baby is the best!! Those mothers are TOTALLY out of line - but I know that it does happen. Ignore them if you can. How dare they judge you!! It's all well for some, who: have nipples & lactating functions that work whose babies latched on okay who managed to make it through the pain who aren't suffering from extreme PND ...etc etc etc. but there are a million reasons why it doesn't happen - and plenty pf people CHOOSE not to. So screw them! You will be fine! ;-) Our little one just turned one - it's all very exciting!! GOOD LUCK!

I was in exactly the same situation. My son was 8 weeks prem and tube fed. He fed fine from the tube and me to start with but my milk dried up fast and so it was recommended by my health professionals I should bottle feed as my son was starting to lose weight. People looked at me funny but it wasn't their child. He is now 21 6'2" and very healthy and happy. I say, ignore people who don't know your situation and don't feel you have to explain anything to them. Good luck!
