All you people who are jumping on the One Drop Rule need to realize that that ish don't count if you actually look black. It counts for people who look completely Caucasian like Maya Rowell (Victoria Rowell's daughter) not for people who have Caucasian blood in them but look mostly black like Halley Berry and most certainly Beyonce. The One drop Rule states that if you have 1/16 African blood in you then you are black. Now that's a lot of generations back, to find someone Black. If a grand parent of great grandparent was black you damn sure was considered black so get over it. Beyonce's parents are black and so is she. If she isn't then no Afro American is. In my own family (same parents) we have sibling skin color ranging from Beyonce's mom's color down to Kelly Rolands color. We have known recorded and proven Native American, Irish and African blood but we are still AA's and proud of it. It isn't considered strange for a Caucasian family to have a child with red hair or blue eyes even though neither parent has it. It's in the DNA . That's why Caucasians made that hateful azz rule anyway. Why are people acting like she has to Not Be Black to be beautiful, talented or smart. How stupid and racist is that?!

Race has no biological foundation and is a social fabrication. Therefore, Beyonce is whatever she says she is, i.e. Black.

Her mother is Creole, which is a mixture of the following races/nationalities in varying ratios:Black American (African Descent), White American (Anglo Descent), Native American (Cherokee, Choctaw etc, who are ancient descendants of prehistoric Asian peoples living in North America) and French (French). Her Dad is African American, a mixture of White American and Black American in unknown ratios; no matter what the colour of an African American's skin, it's almost impossible to ascertain the actual amount of white-black intermarriage in the persons family tree. Beyonce, therefore, is mixed race with brown skin and black Afro hair,a curvy, thick body, perfectly evenly spaced facial features; dark brown almond shaped eyes, a curvy, thick body, lovely bone structure, a straight Indian/Anglo bridge in her nose but with a little African flair in the nostrils, a full mouth; and a LOVELY VOICE. But then y'all knew that already, I'm sure!!

Beyonce is of African decent,as are most afro-american citizens. Beyonce is also of European decent,as are most afro-american citizens. Beyonce is a mongrel,as are most AMERICAN citizens. The fact that she has a light complexion is simply a matter of DNA. Kelly Rowland who has a deep brown complexion is probably just as racially diverse as Beyonce is. In my opinion Kelly is the more exotic beauty of the two (If you own the Destiny Fulfilled CD take a look at Kelly's beauty shot in the albums insert;she's breath-takingly beautiful. She looks like a somalian). The only reason people question Beyonce's heritage is because her skin is light and she makes every effort to look as european as she possibly can (long, blond weaves and wigs, contouring with makeup,etc.). As far as "white society" is concerned,Beyonce is as "black" as you or I. That is the label we've been given, but I refuse to be defined by labels (especially false ones). I am afro-american;among other things. The same applies to Beyonce. There is no such thing as a pure race. We are all apart of one another wether we like it or not;but because of the world we live in every american of color is seen as "black."

First of all Beyonce is not the prettiest Black woman I have ever seen. She is actually just average cute. I don't think Beyonce is beautiful she is pretty. But not because she is light skinned. She is not high yellow or anything. But she is cute. Her body is beautiful and I think most women Black or white would want her figure. She does have the BEST body in show business and that's all there is to it. Black women sound so insecure. Black women need to lose weight and realize that men don't notice skin color, they notice how in shape you are. They don't even notice your face as much as they do your body. So get in shape and stop using the beyonce is light skin excuse. Beyonce gets attention because she takes care of her curves. And that's a fact.

Beyonce is Black. In this country if you have one drop of black blood then you are considered black. Does she have some other races in there like white and cherokee-Yes. Her grandmother was mixed blkac/white but since African Americans already have a history of mixes in their race, its not suprising that even though Beynces father appears to be a dark skinned black man, he also has some cherokee in his heritage. Its all about genetics. You can have two dark skinned parents and pop out a light skinned or bi-racial looking child. Mr Knowles and Beyonce's mother have mixed races in their heirtage. But yes Beyonce's mom is very mixed and Beyonce and her sister just happened to look more like her. But that doesnt mean that Beyonce child will be as light as she is.

Also Beyonce enhances her "light skinnedness" by putting on those never ending weaves and doesnt sun tan alot plus make up always helps. I guess she's realized that you sell more records when you look more white than black! Thats why sho no longer puts in cornrolls on her her as she used to when she was a nobody.

puerto rican spice sounds ignorant...she is not from the hood. if you've ever heard beyonce talk about her childhood you would know that instead of assuming she's from the hood just because she's black. her spanish isn't that good because that's not her native tongue, you'd also know that if you pay attention in her interviews. she clearly says that she strictly sings in spanish, not speak it. so i dont understand how you sit there and criticize her and then say u like her...you're just a hater cuz u dont look like her...ignorant ass!

    1) Beyonce Knowles is MIXED-RACE.

She is of an MGM-Mixed /Mixed-Race Lineage.

    2) Her maternal lineage is that of Creole.

    .

    ******************************************************
A comment on the concept of the 'One Drop Rule'
    ******************************************************

The 'One-Drop' Rule (the false teaching
that 'any amount' of Black ancestral
lineage make a person "full Black")
    is nothing more than pure-racism.

The racist 'One-Drop Rule' (used only by the
United States government, by the way) was
    created during the antebellum/chattel-slavery
era by White-supremacists in order to get
people to believe the false racist myth that
the so-called White "race" was "pure" and
tp falsely see the Black "racial" admixture
(even the slightest amount) in a person's
    ancestral lineage as being "tainted".

To embrace the 'One-Drop Rule' is
    the equivalent of BOTH embracing
    "racism" and also embracing the
    false teaching that a Mixed-Race
    person's Black lineage is "tainted".

My advice is that a non-Racist should *not*
embrace the concept of the 'One-Drop Rule'
-- as "Black blood" is *not* "tainted" --
and should never be perceived or embraced
as being so (not even in the name
    of so-called "pride" and "unity").

    In addition, legally-speaking, attempted forcible
application of the racist 'One-Drop Rule' --
against any individual or group -- was made
illegal and ruled as unconstitutional by the
United States Supreme Court in 1967 via the
case of 'Loving vs. The State of Virginia'.

Through the 'Loving vs. Virginia' case, the U.S.
Supreme Court, ruled against both all of the laws
banning Interracial marriage -- and -- also ruled
that any so-called law which forcibly applied the
'One Drop Rule' -- was racist, discriminatory,
    illegal, unconstitutional, and non-enforcible.

    .

    ******************************************************
A comment on the term of "Light Skin Black"
    ******************************************************

It is often a surprise for people to learn
that, in reality, there is actually No Such
Thing As a "Light Skinned Black" person.

The term "Light Skinned Black" is really nothing
more than a racist oxymoron that was created by
White Supremacists in an effort to forcibly deny
most of the Mixed-Race individuals, who are
    of a Multi-Generational Multiracially-Mixed
(MGM-Mixed) Lineage, the right to fully
embrace and to also receive public support
in choosing to acknowledge the truth
    regarding their full ancestral heritage.

The people who have been slapped with the false
label and oxymoronic misnomer of "Light Skinned
Black" person are simply Mixed-Race individuals
-- who re from families which have became
    and have remained continually Mixed-Race
    throughout their multiple generations.

It should also be noted that no one is saying
that having a light skin complexion is the
'only' or even a 'required' proof of being
    of a continuously Mixed-Race lineage.

What is simply being said here is that it is just one
of the clearly-visible and openly undeniable forms
of proof that a person is of a Mixed-Race lineage.

All Afro-Americans are mixed. If you will notice though lately she has been getting lighter and admitted to using whiting powder when she goes to China. They are so impressed by Whitey over there. She uses it when she's not there to if you as me because she didn't use to be that light skinned. No matter She is Black so all you people can stop grasping for straws. She is black and so is her mother. Like I said, All AA's have mixed heritage with Caucasian slave owners, Native Americans and African Slaves just like Latino's are a mix of Caucasian Spaniards, Native Arawaks aka Taino's and African Slaves but what's more obvious is the African part so we go by AA. Take off those wigs and stop lightning that skin and hair and what you will have left is just another pretty black woman. So, give it up people.

By the credo of saying she is part black so she is black, then you can say she is white because she is part white.

The basic honest truth is you have to say she is Mixed. If you wanted to get to the nitty gritty, you could define percentages, but why?

Its as childish as people not realized Barack Obama is 50% white. His mom was not mixed, was completely white, but do you call Barack Obama black or white? So if you start talking in mixes or percentages, Beyonce would be closer to her european heritage.

Don't forget to take into account that Beyonce's mom goes tanning as well.

There is nothing wrong with mixed, so either just say mixed, or if you must, start being honest about specifying how much black someone is.

no she is not fully black because her mother looks to me to have a small amount of black blood more european.
I know, i am a what people call half caste or else a mulatto.
Well, not really, since my father was north african, even thought its classed as the middle east, they are still north africans, my mother a very fair european, and beyonces mother would of gone through hell growing up in the 50s in america.
the whites would of called her black, the blacks would of called her white....
but the blacks would of been more kind to her than the whites,
I grew up in the 50s but not america, or canada, and life was hell because i was a darkie, as they called me.
I did not grow up with my father so the only relatives i knew were white, the only people i assosciated with were white, and most did not accept me.
So Beyonce is half black, same as me,so there is your answer she is mixed race

    Better Answer Sorry About 2008
Okay First off, You are dumb for this answer, and I'm sorry for the person who got the wrong answer. If you'd done some real research you'd find out Beyonce is Creole which is American Naitve Black and French Originated from Louisiana from French Culture. That is not completely true about having a Drop of African Blood in you will make you black. You my as well call P. Ricans Black. Beyonce didn't take most of her mother side... she is in between. Everyone knows if you put Chocolate and Vanilla together it will make Cream swirls. No!!! you Can no put two Beautiful dark skin together to make a Cream baby and the Chances of you pulling one from Latin or white Genetics in 3%. I'm a Redd Bone my mother is Redd My father is Brown but He is mix with Latin which makes me Stay Red. He Just Got His darker features from his mother. ANYWAY!! Unless you really know poeple need to stop answering Questions Thankyou.

She's black. Her mother is black.

They have had some mixture along their genetic line hence the light skin, but they're black.

Creole isn't an ethnicity, it's a culture. Many Hatians are Creole.

    They're black.

American have a big problem! read the book. Please. I am Mexican and I love me. We have Black Hispanics and White Hispanics living here and everywhere. But are and view ourself as Hispanics and or latino(a) that is the differences! And yes , we to have problems. too.-

Hair and skin color is a major concern within the Black community with good reason. In fact the concern is everywhere! Beyonce's sister is rather dark but, to me she is better looking than Ms.B!
