  • Its a curious thing but the body tends to even out growth symmetrically to some degree even though you may only train one arm. So it would be unlikely that you'd actually lost a large amount of muscle mass unless the arms had been strapped out of use for many months. If there has been significant loss (say if you had a broken arm and it took months to heal) then it would be very unwise to start with the same weights as before. The reason for this is "compensation". Your body will attempt to compensate by drawing on surrounding muscle layers and you're almost certain to overload one of these muscle groups and cause yourself an injury. (Nech, shoulder or back tears being distinctly possible) This will make the current sitution even worse. Muscles have a certain degee of memory so if you ramp-up gradually it shouldn't take too long to get back to a reasonable degree of strength.
