  • Battery could be a dud, or the starter motor. Most likely, though, is that both are ok and your problem is in the wiring leading to your starter motor. Teaching you to suck eggs, the only reason for the starter motor is to crank the engine to get it to fire and turn itself over. If the starter motor is not working then there is no 'juice' getting to it. Although the battery also runs other functions, its main one is to turn the starter motor to start the vehicle. If it has a charge that is not getting to the motor then the only option is that you have a problem with your wiring. At ten years old the terminal connections could be corroded enough to stop enough charge going through, or the wiring may have broken somewhere. Using jump leads you can try (carefully please) jumping the starter motor direct from the battery. If that works then you start to narrow down where the problem might occur. Please be careful jumping your starter.
  • Does everything electrical function as normal, with the new battery? have you checked the main motor fuse?
  • I have the same thing and having the same problem, but when damp, snowing or raining. I will let you know when and if i get it figured out.
