What flavor is the mystery flavor of airheads??? does anyone know?

I gave one of those Airheads to a friend without telling him the flavor. He said it tasted like apples. I'm not sure if that's what the flavor is supposed to taste like though, but that was one person's interpretation of it. Another source says this: "The mystery flavor was invented by "dum dum" sucker manufacturer. What it is, is the transistion flavor between candy batches.
