a mother. That is the most important role. IMO it's more important than the role as the wife.

Hum....Currently, I am trying not to be defined my roles or associate with any identity. I am trying to be present and be who I am. I'll let you know how that is working the next time something dramatic happens. LOL That's when it's really hard not to play the role of victim or mother depending on the drama. :)

You know how Tolle feels about roles ;) OK OK, so we all play them... it is inevitable. I'm surprised this isn't getting more attention, to be honest. It's very interesting to think of the roles that we serve in life and how they shape who we are when all of it is bound together. Tonight, I ran into an old coworker from the first job I ever had when I was 16 years old. I've long since held the role of grocery store clerk or cashier, and I only remember it as a passing nostalgic memory. But the funny thing is, I was shocked when she remembered me. She looked at me and I felt about 16 years old again... it was actually kind of a moving experience. So, the role carried over and meant something in this current moment. We play roles, and we are so satisfied when those roles are acknowledged and somehow applauded. Playing roles helps us keep track of what we have to do, sure. Sometimes it's mechanical. But role appreciation is special whether you are a parent and it's a parent day holiday, you are given a promotion, or even getting a congratulations party on answerbag! Given the place I am in right now in my life, my most important roles are my obligations to my family, my friends, my pets, my work, and... of course... pretending like I'll play naughty nurse. LOL, b-dog! :D
