Is it OK for paretns to hit there children, in your opinion?

No, it is motivating through fear. It doesn't teach a person good ways to deal with their emotions when things don't go their way. They learn certain ways to deal with conflict, physical ways. It is better to make them understand the reasons behind their mistakes than to just punish them straight out. And it is better to punish them in a way that relates to what they did wrong.

Just hit them? No, that is unacceptable. Spankings for behavior deserving of it is okay in my book, but hitting a child isn't right.

Would it be okay for your employer to hit you any time you did something wrong or didn't behave the way they see fit?

No. Never. Have patience with their tirades. They are testing you. I believe it is not necessary to ever strike a child if the child is brought up within a loving home.
