  • The risk of serious accident far outweighs the miniscule amount of fuel one might conserve. In many places the police will fine you for doing something such as that. If nothing else, to draft a large vehicle a car would need to be too close and the police might pull you over for that reason alone.
  • It's too dangerous to ride behind one of these behemoths. I would consider tailing an SUV however and I do from time to time. It's boring being the only one on the road and sometimes its funner to play follow the leader.
  • Never. Save some gas, lose your life is not an option
  • No. Not a good idea. The NASCAR guys might get away with it because they know the driver in the other car, but there's a good chance that you won't.
  • I have done it in the past, and if you stay far enough behind and are very watchful it can be done.I have been driving for decades and it would not be a good idea for an inexperienced driver.
  • Honestly... Yes... Mythbusters proved it... see http://mythbusters-wiki.discovery.com/page/Big+Rig+Drafting BUT, it's NOT safe... Problem with a semi is he doesn't know you're back there, and you can't see ANYTHING in front of HIM... What happens if he has to stop suddenly? (And no... No matter your reaction time, you will NOT normally be able to react fast enough to stop in time.)
  • yeap , and i fill my tank in the morning
  • no, the savings are far too small for the risk involved. i consider anyone that would do this kind of thing to save a few cents a month foolish.
  • No. Not only is it dangerous as a crash hazard, those things throw up so much crap and debris off the road you get peppered if you're too close. I don't feel like replacing my windscreen because I got hit with a stone kicked up from the tyres of the truck 30 feet in front of me...
