I've not seen the movie, only the preview when I went to see another show a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Was it good?

Yes, the possibility of something like that could happen. There is likely a bacteria that can cause effects similar to the one in the movie. I would guarentee that something to that degree could possibly happen. Its has in some species of snails, they get a hold of an bacteria and get confused and die. So why not humans, if it could be passed along to us.

Ah...well to answer the question, now that I have seen it, I don't think people could be "convinced" to kill themselves by trees, but the CIA mind drugs sounds a lot more plausible. So far as I know, which is very little, there is no man made or otherwise stuff that can do that. Sounds like fiction.

Of course it can... Anything that is stationary and unable to move would naturally create for itself some kind of defense if it felt threatened. Like I already said in another answer, The vegans will be the first to go!
